What are All On 4 Dental Implants?

A dental implant is typically used to support a single tooth restoration, but with All On 4 Dental Implants, between 4-6 implants are used to support an entire arch restoration. This offers an excellent alternative to full or partial dentures. Since the restoration is supported by your jaw rather than your gums, there is no rubbing or pressure points. You can even choose between fixed or removable dentures for complete flexibility. By replacing your dentures with All On 4 Dental Implants, you can eat all of your favourite foods again. You'll also be able to speak and smile with confidence.

All On 4 Dental Implant procedure

This procedure starts with a consultation to learn if you are a suitable candidate. Once you have agreed to the treatment plan, we start by extracting any remaining teeth, if required. We can then start the dental implant procedure by placing the implants in your jaw where they are left to integrate with the bone. Once healed, an abutment is placed on top of the implants and this provides the foundation for the final restoration. Once the implants have healed, we can place your fixed or removable denture.

Who is right for All On 4 Dental Implants?

The ideal candidate for All On 4 Dental Implants is someone who has lost all or most of their teeth and would like a permanent replacement or an alternative to dentures. You should have good overall health and no signs of gum disease. You will also need to be able to follow the post-operative instructions carefully in order to maximise the changes of the implants being successful. And finally, you'll need to be able to follow aftercare advice to keep your implants healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Have a question about your dental treatment? We've answered the most common questions below.

To be a suitable candidate for All On 4 dental implants, you need to have good overall health and be a non-smoker. Smoking increases the risk of implant failure, so it's important to quit before treatment begins. If you have had radiotherapy in your jaw, this can also impact your suitability. Your jaw bone density is also an important factor in determining your eligibility for implants.

All On 4 implants are designed to hold a full arch restoration. You might need either 4 or 6 implants for a full arch.

If you have a removable denture, you can take them out and clean them as you would with a conventional denture. If you have a fixed denture, you would clean your teeth as if they were your natural teeth. A water flosser may be used around the edges to ensure no food is left behind.

You cannot remove the implant, but you may have the option to have a removable denture. This will be held in place with a snap-on feature that is more secure than conventional dentures.

Andrew and the hygienist Drishna are both fantastic, they always explain everything they're doing and are both very gentle Andrew did a filling for me and I didnt even feel the injection, the whole procedure was completely painless. I have receding gums so my teeth are very sensitive so I was dreading the deep clean in particular, but Drishna used plenty of numbing gel and I didn't feel anything, so I was very relieved and grateful - thank you both again. A bit of a wait but I guess that’s to be expected. The TV in the waiting area displays lots of information, including advising to speak with reception if you’ve been waiting for longer than 15 minutes … I didn’t! My appointment with the dentist was, and always has been good. Thorough, with every step and finding explained in a manner that’s understandable. It helps that I’ve been a patient of Rosie for a long time and my appointments are always with her.

I was lucky to get a place at this dental practice for my father: who hasn’t seen a dentist for many years. We’ve had two visits now and we are very happy with them. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the dental staff are very professional. But, just as important, they treat my father, who is frail, with care and respect
