What are All On 4 Dental Implants?

A dental implant is typically used to support a single tooth restoration, but with All On 4 Dental Implants, between 4-6 implants are used to support an entire arch restoration. This offers an excellent alternative to full or partial dentures. Since the restoration is supported by your jaw rather than your gums, there is no rubbing or pressure points. You can even choose between fixed or removable dentures for complete flexibility. By replacing your dentures with All On 4 Dental Implants, you can eat all of your favourite foods again. You'll also be able to speak and smile with confidence.

All On 4 Dental Implant procedure

This procedure starts with a consultation to learn if you are a suitable candidate. Once you have agreed to the treatment plan, we start by extracting any remaining teeth, if required. We can then start the dental implant procedure by placing the implants in your jaw where they are left to integrate with the bone. Once healed, an abutment is placed on top of the implants and this provides the foundation for the final restoration. Once the implants have healed, we can place your fixed or removable denture.

Who is right for All On 4 Dental Implants?

The ideal candidate for All On 4 Dental Implants is someone who has lost all or most of their teeth and would like a permanent replacement or an alternative to dentures. You should have good overall health and no signs of gum disease. You will also need to be able to follow the post-operative instructions carefully in order to maximise the changes of the implants being successful. And finally, you'll need to be able to follow aftercare advice to keep your implants healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Have a question about your dental treatment? We've answered the most common questions below.

To be a suitable candidate for All On 4 dental implants, you need to have good overall health and be a non-smoker. Smoking increases the risk of implant failure, so it's important to quit before treatment begins. If you have had radiotherapy in your jaw, this can also impact your suitability. Your jaw bone density is also an important factor in determining your eligibility for implants.

All On 4 implants are designed to hold a full arch restoration. You might need either 4 or 6 implants for a full arch.

If you have a removable denture, you can take them out and clean them as you would with a conventional denture. If you have a fixed denture, you would clean your teeth as if they were your natural teeth. A water flosser may be used around the edges to ensure no food is left behind.

You cannot remove the implant, but you may have the option to have a removable denture. This will be held in place with a snap-on feature that is more secure than conventional dentures.

I have just seen the hygienist who cleaned my teeth. I am so delighted with the result. I didn't know I have such pretty teeth. They are professionals and they worked hard to remove my terrible stains and plaque. I am nervous about attending a dentist practice but they were very kind and helpful. Cannot praise them enough. Thank you.

Dentist was very professional. Took time to ask about my teeth and if I had any issues or concerns. Did a scale and polish which was very good and not uncomfortable, unlike other visits. Advised me on different toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Arranged further appointment quickly for other work needed. I am happy with the service. Thanks.

Needed to see a dentist quickly due to losing a tooth. Was offered an appointment 2 days later which I was grateful for. Managed to park in their small car park at the rear of the surgery. If this is full, there is free public parking in the underground car park at the Forum shops opposite. Only waited a couple of minutes before being called through to see the dentist who was friendly and helpful. She explained the options available to me and I made the decision to go down the cheapest route by having my small denture plate extended rather than a new one. Impressions were taken there and then and a further appointment booked for 12 days time for the fitting. Very pleased with the whole experience.
