Benefits of teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is a highly effective way to enhance your appearance without huge changes. By simply removing the build up of extrinsic and intrinsic staining, you can achieve a younger and more confident looking appearance. If you’re keen to explore teeth whitening in a safe and professional space, book an appointment today.
What is teeth whitening?
If you have stains on the surface of your teeth (extrinsic) or within the inner dentin layer, the only safe solution to remove these stains would be professional teeth whitening. Brushing alone can only do so much, eventually you will need to invest in professional treatment that can tackle the deep-set stains that are causing your discolouration. We use two highly effective systems to achieve incredible results.
With Boutique Whitening and Enlighten Smiles, you’ll have a range of options at your disposal. These systems offer both at-home and in-office teeth whitening, so you can choose the treatment plan that fits with your busy schedule. By choosing dentist-supervised teeth whitening, you can protect yourself against potential damage from unsafe products and incorrect use, which could leave you with permanent sensitivity and damage to your enamel.

The treatment journey
Every patient journey is unique, but this is what you can expect when you start treatment with the Longfellow Road Dental Practice.
Book your consultation
Before you get started with teeth whitening treatment, you first need to know if you’re an ideal candidate. A consultation with our team will allow you to discuss your goals and learn more about the treatment options available to you. We might recommend a dental hygienist cleaning ahead of treatment to ensure your teeth and gums are in optimal health.
The treatment begins
For at-home treatment, we’ll start by taking impressions of your teeth to make your custom whitening trays. We’ll show you how to use your whitening solution and you’ll complete your treatment at home. For in-office whitening, you’ll visit the practice for a treatment. We’ll use UV light to accelerate the whitening chemicals to achieve incredible results.
Smile with confidence
At the end of your course of treatment, your teeth should be dramatically whiter and you will be able to smile with complete confidence. We’ll provide you with complete aftercare instructions to help you to care for your smile and maintain the results. You will need to avoid staining foods to prevent discolouration from returning.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Have a question about your dental treatment? We've answered the most common questions below.
We offer a range of professional whitening systems that deliver incredible results. Only professional teeth whitening can deliver tangible results. Whitening strips and other whitening products will only be able to tackle surface stains, not the stains set deep in your dentin. We offer Boutique Whitening and Enlighten Smiles, both of which are highly effective for tackling stains.
We can help you to achieve long-term results with teeth whitening, but the results will not be permanent. The stains will return if you continue to enjoy the same food and drink choices that caused the initial staining. However, we can give you advice and support for preventing stains. We can also create a maintenance schedule that will allow you to whiten your teeth without risking damaging the enamel with overuse.
The majority of treatment plans take around two weeks to complete, but we can speed up this process with in-office treatments. While at-home treatments are designed to be gentle and gradual, we can safely accelerate the process by using a special UV light. If you have a deadline for your treatment, we recommend starting at least two weeks before your special day.
You may experience a temporary increase in sensitivity following your treatment, particularly if you already experience sensitive teeth. This should subside after a few days. You can use special sensitive toothpaste to help remineralise the tooth surface and close the gaps in the enamel.
How to whiten your teeth without sensitivity
If you would like to whiten your teeth, the only safe way to achieve measurable results would be with professional and dentist-supervised treatment. Over-the-counter whitening kits do not require the right ingredients or strength of ingredients to deliver results. There is a risk of causing damage to your gums and enamel if you choose non-professional whitening, such as that offered in a salon.
This sensitivity occurs because of the mechanism that is required to whiten your teeth. Small pores in your teeth open to allow the whitening agents into the dentin. The chemicals break down the bonds between staining particles so they can be flushed away. In the case of over-whitening, the enamel can become damaged so that these pores cannot close again, leaving you with permanent sensitivity. We only use safe but effective products to avoid the risk of increased sensitivity.
