What are denture retained implants?

Implant retained dentures use dental implants placed in the jaw to support a full arch restoration. This is ideal if you are struggling with dentures slipping or causing pressure sores on your gums. With implant retained dentures, the force of your bite is distributed through your jaw bone instead of your gums, so they are much more comfortable to wear and feel much more like natural teeth. This can also help to prevent bone loss and maintain your facial structure. Choose between snap on and permanent dentures for complete flexibility. Wearing implant retained dentures also means that no food will be off limits.

The procedure

This process requires two procedures. During the first procedure, we start by placing the dental implants in your jaw and then leaving these to heal and integrate with the bone. After a period of healing, usually around 8-12 weeks, we will then attach abutments to the dental implants to create the anchor for your denture. You can choose between snap on removable dentures, or a permanently fixed denture. Once completed, you will care for your dentures like they are your natural teeth.

Who is right for dental implants?

The ideal candidate for dental implants has good oral health and sufficient bone density to support the implants. You should also be a non-smoker, as smoking can increase the risk of implant failure. Certain health conditions may also rule you out as a candidate, but we can discuss this during your initial consultation.

A suitable candidate for implant retained dentures is someone who has lost most or all of their teeth and wants a more secure and stable option than traditional dentures. They should have healthy gums and bones, and be willing to commit to regular dental visits for maintenance. smokers are generally not considered good candidates for this type of procedure.

Yes, implant retained dentures are removable. However, they should only be removed by a qualified dental professional. You may also choose snap on removable dentures that you can take out at home and clean as you would with a normal denture.

Surely Dr Chetan Mathias is the best (not one of the best) dental doctor I have ever met. I had suffered from serious gum disease & teeth problems for 10's years. Dr Mathias & team cured me with complicated implant surgeries. Now I am able to smile and enjoy foods. Many thanks! Dr Mathias is highly professional in surgical technique. And more is his professional manner in helping patients - he explained every details to me that I was clear (& felt less nervous) throughout the whole process. Wish everyone is healthy. But in case one needs treatment, I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Mathias. Thank you.
